connect init.Tasks to Cursor
Cursor
Cursor reads MCP servers from a JSON file. You add one entry and approve on your phone.
Add the server
Open Settings → MCP → Add new global MCP server. Cursor opens mcp.json. Add this entry:
{
"mcpServers": {
"init-tasks": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.inittasks.com/mcp"
}
}
}Save the file. Cursor reconnects and starts the approval flow.
The same entry works in any client that reads an mcpServers object, including Windsurf and Zed.
Approve on your phone
Cursor shows you a nine-digit code. Open init.Tasks on a device you already use, go to Settings → account → encryption & devices → connected apps, enter the code, and check it matches.
Approve read-only unless you want Cursor to change things.
Check it worked
The MCP panel in Cursor lists the server with a green dot and the tools it found. Ask the agent:
What is in my init.Tasks inbox?Turn it off
In init.Tasks, open Settings → account → encryption & devices → connected apps and revoke it. Deleting the entry from mcp.json stops Cursor calling the server, but the grant lives on the server until you revoke it there.
