Connect an AI

You can let Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor read and change your tasks. You paste one address into the assistant, approve the connection on your phone, and that is the whole setup.

These four pages are for using init.Tasks, not for building on it. If you are writing an MCP client, start at MCP.

What happens when you connect

The assistant asks init.Tasks for access. init.Tasks shows you a nine-digit code. You open the app on a device you already trust, check the code matches, and approve there.

You never type your password into the assistant. The approval happens in the app.

What the assistant can do

A new connection is read-only. It can list your to-dos, projects, tags and filters. It cannot create, change or delete anything until you grant write access.

You choose this at approval time, and you can grant less than the assistant asked for. If it asks to read and write and you approve read only, it gets read only. The server enforces that, so a refusal does not depend on the assistant behaving well.

What it cannot do

• Read anything outside the access you granted.
• Write on a read-only connection.
• See your data after you disconnect it.
• Search your notes on the server. Your content is encrypted, so every search runs inside your own request. See encryption.

Disconnecting

Open Settings → account → encryption & devices → connected apps and revoke the one you want gone. Access stops at once.

Changing your password or your encryption key disconnects everything, including apps you still want. You will need to connect them again.
